25 Cheap Places to Visit in April for Great Weather in 2026
April is one of the best months of the year for travelers looking for warm weather without peak-season prices. In much of North America and Europe the weather is still unpredictable, but in many tropical destinations the dry season is still going strong and hotel prices can be surprisingly reasonable.
One important thing to keep in mind is that Spring Break can push prices higher for a couple of weeks, especially in the Caribbean and Mexico. Families and college students tend to travel at slightly different times, so if you can plan your trip in early April or later in the month you can often find much better hotel deals.
The destinations below combine reliably warm weather with relatively affordable hotel prices, based on a typical 3-star hotel for two people. Many of these places also have excellent 4-star options that are still very reasonably priced, and in a few beach destinations you can even find good deals on all-inclusive resorts.
As always with these monthly lists, the focus is on destinations where you can enjoy great weather without paying peak-season prices. Some of the cities below are famous travel hotspots while others are lesser-known bargains, but all of them can be excellent choices for an April getaway.

Best warm and affordable destinations in the Americas in April
April is an in-between month in the Americas except of course for the Tropics, where it’s hot all year round. This is an excellent time to head to the Caribbean, as the crowds are thinning and prices are coming down after winter.
The Caribbean
April can be a perfect month for a Caribbean vacation because the weather will still be dry and perfect, while the crowds will be smaller and hotel rates much lower than from Christmas through late March. April is also safely out of the hurricane season, so you can go anywhere you want without even considering the possibility of a storm.

Thanks for pointing that out. We switched from one database system to another and these articles had to be manually copied over. This one obviously had an incorrect edit and it has been fixed. -Roger
I really appreciate your effort for compiling this list. But at the same time, I would like to point out a few things – you say these are cheap destinations – but you have not factored in the cost to reach these destinations. Unless you are going to be there for a month or more, travel costs usually are the highest.
Also, great weather depends on the individual – for many of us 97F is not great weather, it is not even bearable weather – we prefer the 60s or 70s (some, like me prefer it colder in the 50s – I start sweating uncomfortably at 65+ and cannot breathe at 80+). I have friends down south who start shivering at 99 or below. So, I get both sides.
Again, my comment is not meant to demean the article or your efforts, just showing you a different perspective. You don’t have to publish this comment if you don’t want to. Just thought I would share my thoughts with you. Happy travels.
Manny,
I appreciate your perspective and I agree with you on most of it. The reason I wrote this series of articles is that many other travel websites try to get the visitor to fill out a form with all of their preferences, budget, and starting point, and then the website would usually recommend the most obvious results. In my experience people prefer something more simple so I list all of the major destinations around the world that are good for each month, including the weather and price ranges, and visitors can scan the whole list in a minute or two.
I tried to include only spots that have warm (and not scorching) weather that are mostly sunny without much rain that month. And I include places from all around the world, so most people will be reasonably close to at least a few of them. Again, thanks for your comments and I appreciate that you took the time to give your feedback. -Roger
Hi Roger, You ask for more suggestions to the Middle East.. Despite what is in the news (which tend to be the worst case scenarios), what amout Oman (not been there personnaly, but know several who has), and Abu Dhabi? Abu Dhabi is a great place to visit, lots of history, welcoming people, nice weather..and..Cheaper than Dubai!!!
Frequent Traveller,
I’ve yet to make it to Oman for anything more than a plane change myself, and I would like to include it if I can in the future.
I’m also a big fan of Abu Dhabi and there are things that I prefer about it compared to Dubai. We actually have a page for Abu Dhabi, but I don’t include it on the “cheap destinations” lists because, unlike Dubai, there are no cheap hotels. Food and most other things there are similar in price to Dubai, and I’ve had some great meals there for around US$5, but unless things have changed very recently, there are no hotels in the city starting under about US$100 for a low-rated place. Dubai, as you probably know, has some decent hotels starting under US$50 per night. Thanks for the comments. -Roger
