Note: Hotel “starting at” prices listed below were the cheapest I could find for each hotel, usually for a single room. It’s likely your dates will show higher prices, especially for a double room, but this doesn’t mean it’s not a great deal. Please compare prices you are quoted to prices of similar hotels and you’ll usually find that these are bargains.

Oriente Hostal Madrid – 3*

–Amazing location in this price range–

The Oriente Hostal Madrid is a new and simple 3-star hotel that offers excellent rates considering all it has going for it. The location is perhaps its best feature, immediately across from the Opera metro station in the heart of the city center. You’ll be able to walk to all the main sights as well as quickly get on the metro for the airport or anything more remote.

The rooms here are relatively small and simple, with a bed and cable TV plus en-suite bathroom in each. Some guests say the walls are a bit thin and that neighbors can be a bit loud so if you are a light and early sleeper this place might not be ideal. The reception also isn’t always a fluent English speaker, but aside from those things this place gets rave reviews and is fantastic value in the lower price range.

Hotel Exe Suites 33 Hotel Madrid – 3*

–Great value for larger rooms–

With a location just around the corner from the Gran Via shopping street, the Suites 33 Hotel has an excellent and convenient location that is close to all the main central sights. It’s also a short walk from two different metro stations so farther-out sights or the airport are easy to reach as well.

With larger than average rooms that are kept spotless this is a popular hotel and it gets very high ratings in TripAdvisor as well. There’s free wi-fi throughout the hotel and a plasma TV and a kitchenette in each of the 33 rooms. During busy periods the prices will be higher, but online specials during the slower periods put this into the extreme bargain range.

Liabeny Hotel Madrid – 4*

–4-star business hotel with great special rates–

Located one block from the Gran Via shopping street and only two blocks from the Puerto del Sol (absolute center of Madrid), the Liabeny Hotel is a proper business facility that sometimes offers fantastic online specials that make it an unbeatable bargain. There are 220 rooms here, each larger than average for a city-center hotel, each with a flat-screen TV, a mini-bar, and free wi-fi.

As you’d expect from a 4-star business-oriented hotel, the staff here is quite large and they do a very good job of looking after all guests, mostly with good English language skills. During busy periods and especially when there are meetings or conventions in Madrid this place might be quite expensive, but during slow periods this place is a steal.

Preciados Hotel Madrid – 4*

–Madrid’s top-rated hotel is surprisingly affordable–

Put simply, the Preciados Hotel is the number one rated Madrid hotel in TripAdvisor, with well over 90% of reviewers rating it Very Good or Excellent. This is the sort of place that people book because of the great reviews, and yet the place exceeds their high expectations anyway. The location is perfect in the heart of Madrid a short walk to the Puerto del Sol and Gran Via.

The rooms here are unusually large, and unlike many others in this city they feature double-pane windows so they are quiet at night as well. You also get a free minibar loaded with some drinks, a plasma flat-screen TV, and free wi-fi in each room. The staff here get rave reviews from all guests, so combining that with the excellent location and luxury amenities you can’t go wrong here if you can afford it. The online special rates put this into the mid-range for Madrid, making it a fantastic bargain for being so popular and highly rated.
