Is the Sydney Pass a good deal

In order to answer this question as accurately as possible, we need to first outline everything that comes with a pass purchase. First, you’ll receive not only your pass, but a guidebook with information about each attraction, hours of operation and a map of where each one is located. With the Sydney Pass, you’ll receive a choice of purchasing the 3, 4, 5 or 7 attraction package. There are a total of 20 different attractions that you can then choose from and you have 30 days to visit them after your pass has been activated. Activation occurs once you visit the first attraction on your list.

To help make things a little easier to understand, let’s create a sample itinerary. For this one, we’ll use a 5 attraction pass that’s being purchased for an adult.

  • Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Sydney and Bondi: 1-Day Classic Tour – AU$55.00
  • Sydney Jet – Thrill Ride – AU$85.00
  • Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures – AU$25.00
  • BlueBananas Electric Bike Tours – AU$35.00
  • WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo – AU$42.00

Once you total up all of the attraction gate prices above, they come out to AU$242.00. If you decide to visit these same attractions using the Sydney Pass, you’ll end up paying AU$175.00. That equals out to a savings of AU$67.00, which is a sizeable amount. You could then use this money toward a nice meal, a hotel or a few small gifts to friends and family back home.

Are all of the attractions covered with the Sydney Pass worth a visit

Due to the high popularity of each attraction, they all seem very much worth a visit to. Also, because there are so many different kinds of attractions and sights to enjoy, each member of your family or group should have no problem finding a few that fit their vacation style, including young kids who like to keep busy.

How not to use the Sydney Pass

Because you do have 30 days to use your pass, you don’t want to rush through the attractions as quickly as possible. If you’re visiting for a short weekend and you try to rush through everything, then the pass may not be your best option. If you’re visiting for a week or more, you’ll have plenty of time to see everything at a normal pace, making it so that you can really enjoy your time at each one.

You’ll also want to make sure that you don’t only visit attractions that have low gate prices. If you do this, you may not see any savings, which would then defeat the purpose of the pass. So what you’ll want to do is to visit at least one high priced attraction and then go from there. That way you’re locking in the savings while still having a great time.

The bottom line

It seems that no matter which attraction size pass you select, you’ll find great savings which each, as long as you take care to not just select the cheapest options. Doing that would mean that you wouldn’t get much of a savings, if any at all. Also, if you’re traveling with young kids, you’ll want to make sure to visit attractions that are suited to those of a younger age. There are a few available attractions associated with the card that aren’t really enjoyable for kids, yet loved by adults.
