St. Lucia is part of the British Commonwealth with English as its official language so it’s one of the more popular islands for Brits and Americans alike. It’s a very popular stop on Caribbean cruises, but it also has an impressive infrastructure for those wishing to stay any number of nights and there are plenty of good things to do in St. Lucia.
The island is a bit remote from the United States, but hotel and resort prices in St. Lucia are very reasonably priced, making this among the best-value islands in the Caribbean. St. Lucia is perhaps the most beautiful Caribbean island. Most resorts are along the western coast in the north, while the stunning Piton peaks in the far south of the island can make you feel like you are in Hawaii.

Like the other Caribbean islands, St. Lucia is no stranger to sunshine and gets a good amount of sun almost every day, making for the perfect year round destination.
The temperatures tend to stay in line with the other islands around with lows in the 70s and highs in the 80s. June through November brings the rain, though not a lot but it is hurricane season. Due to this, it’s best to make sure you plan ahead.
None the less, St. Lucia is a great place to put on your bathing suit and hit the beach or better yet, take a dip or two in the ocean.

There are over 70 hotels on St. Lucia, with excellent value in the 3-star and 4-star ranges. Most hotels are along the west coast and clustered near the northern tip of the island, but there are remote beaches with resorts up and down the west coast. While the standard hotels can be quite cheap in St. Lucia, its all-inclusive resorts tend to be toward the top end for the Caribbean, but they do offer very good value if you book a package.
As with everywhere in the Caribbean, hotels in St. Lucia have a high season lasting from December through April, with a peak season running from just before Christmas through the first week of January. From May through November is the off season and great deals are easy to find.

St. Lucia has two airports:
Hewanorra International Airport, near the southern tip, is the larger one by far and is where all long-haul flights arrive.
George F. L. Charles Airport is along the west coast in the north, so it’s much closer to most resorts, but it only handles flights from within the Caribbean.
Nonstop flights from:
San Juan, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, New York-JFK, Toronto, Montreal, London, Frankfurt
Rental cars are a great option to get around the island, as are rides on a minibus. Taxis are also available, along with water taxis, but they are not necessary to get around. Also, if you’re thinking about island hopping, a ferry will connect you to Dominica, Guadeloupe, and Martinique.
