Without a doubt, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is the most popular attraction in Cape Town, and as you can see, it’s not the cheapest attraction either. But not only does the Cape Town Pass cover your admission, but you’ll be able to get some great pictures as well.

If you combine the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway with a trip to the Cape Point Nature Reserve and a ride on the Mile by Mile City Bus Tour, then you’ve already not only paid for a 3-day Adult Cape Town Pass, but saved quite a bit of money as well. Doing the tour-based attractions? It’s a great deal

Because the prices of the area tours on their own are a bit expensive, if you decide to join in on them under the Cape Town Pass, you’ll find that you’re going to save a nice chunk of change. The tours that we’re referring to are the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, the Mile by Mile City Tour, Bikes & Wines, The Cape Point Funicular, and the Yacoob Yacths- Sunset Cruise.

Skipping the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway? Probably skip the Cape Town Pass

We’re not just saying this because the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is such a popular attraction. We’re saying this because on its own, the cableway is a pretty expensive attraction. When visiting it under the pass, you’ll not only save the cost, but you’ll find that the pass is a much better deal in that you won’t have to visit nearly as many other attractions to make the total amount add up to the pass price. The same can be said for the Bikes & Wines tour, which is the most expensive attraction included in the purchase of a pass.

When you go to purchase your pass, you’ll find that there are not only 3 different pass lengths to look at, but also the option to buy each pass with travel included. Though these passes are more expensive, you’ll save money by not having to rent a vehicle and you won’t have to pay for city transportation each and every time you board the bus. In fact, with the travel pass you’ll get unlimited journeys for 3 days (no matter what length pass you purchase) and travel to and from the airport is included. With this pass, one ticket covers all of the MyCiti bus networks, including the top tourist routes that venture in and out of Cape Town’s top attractions.

One thing to keep in mind is that children under the age of 7 travel for free when they are accompanied by an adult that has the travelcard. This means that if an adult buys the Cape Town Pass w/ travel included, you don’t have to buy a travel pass for a child 6 and under.

The Cape Town Pass grants visitors access to 32 different popular attractions in and around the city. When you take a closer look at the standard gate price of each attraction included, you’ll find that some of the attractions are actually very cheap on their own. This means that you don’t want to just visit those attractions, as in the end, you won’t really be saving money with the pass. Instead, you’ll want to visit mostly the more expensive attractions and then 1 or 2 of the cheaper attractions if you have the time.

For example, if you choose to only visit attractions that are R90 and lower, then you’ll want to skip the pass and just visit them on their own.

Important advice: Start early in the day (each day) and plan in advance

When planning your day, you’ll find that most attractions are the least busy right after they open in the morning. This means that if you leave your hotel early in the morning, you’ll be able to start your sightseeing while other travelers are still getting ready. You’ll also be able to visit more attractions in one day if you start early, which helps you to get more use out of your pass.

After reviewing the included attractions and taking a look at the travel prices, the Cape Town Pass is a very good deal, if, and only if, you choose to visit a few of the higher costing attractions and not just those that are originally low in price. Because of the price differences, you’ll find that the pass is pretty straight forward. As stated above, if your plan is to partake in a few of the included tours, than you’ll find that the pass is indeed a fantastic deal as you’ll be saving a lot of money.

Because of Cape Town’s reputation of being an exciting city with lots of adventurous and cultural activities, you’ll notice that most travelers to the area spend most of their vacation or holiday in and around the city. If you’re entertaining the idea of staying in the area for an entire week and are thinking of purchasing the 5-day pass, you’ll be making a good decision. Just remember to keep each and every day busy with activities. The more attractions you visit, the more money you save.
