14 Cheapest Caribbean all-inclusive resorts that get good reviews

The trend towards all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and many other parts of the world is a strong one. People seem to love the concept of paying one price for a stay at a resort and being able to enjoy all the food and drinks they like with no additional charges. Perhaps surprisingly, these resorts are usually cheaper than paying for room, food, and drink separately in the same area, so they are hard to resist.

We’ve previously researched which Caribbean islands have the cheapest all-inclusive resorts in general, but here we decided to take it one step further and compare prices at the most affordable resort areas all together. This way it’s easy to compare them and pick your holiday destination afterwards.

How we researched this list

Since room rates change frequently and are often different from one online travel agency to the next, we compared rates for multiple dates on multiple sites to find the cheapest deals.

The room rates below are for:

  • Average nightly rate for a 7-night stay
  • High season is for a week in late January
  • Low season is for a week in late October
  • Room rates change through the week, so shorter stays may be more or less expensive than our averages.

Best all-inclusive Caribbean resort and package deals

You almost always get a better deal by booking through an agency website rather than through each hotel’s own website. Prices tend to be similar at most online travel agencies, but sometimes one has an exclusive deal so it’s worth checking both of the main sites below. Hotel & Air packages are usually the best deal of all, though not always so careful shoppers will check airfares separately just to compare.

Note: Resorts with poor average reviews don't make this list

We first compiled a list of every inexpensive all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, but several of the cheapest of them suffer from poor reviews on a consistent basis. We decided to just leave those off the list altogether because it’s much easier to have low rates if you have shabby rooms along with terrible service and an inconvenient location.

As a result, all the resorts listed below are those that score well with the various review sites and methods.

14 Cheapest all-inclusive Caribbean resorts

Resorts below sorted by January rate for two people

  • TripAdvisor rating: 3.5

Hotel Cozumel & Resort shows different prices on different websites, which is typical, and it’s one of the few here that also offer rates with no drinks or meals included. Located within walking distance of the downtown center on Cozumel, this resort gets remarkably good reviews considering its price. It has one of the highest Expedia “guest recommended” ratings on this entire list.

Of past verified reviews on Expedia, 84% of guests recommend this resort to others, which is impressive anywhere near this price range.

3 – Royal Decameron Club Caribbean – Ocho Rios, Jamaica

  • January rate: US$158/night
  • October rate: US$119/night
  • Stars: 3
  • # of rooms: 203
  • TripAdvisor rating: 4.0

Located on Runaway Bay only 50 miles from the busy Montego Bay Airport, this member of the international Decameron chain of all-inclusive hotels is usually the cheapest in all of Jamaica. The least expensive rooms have a courtyard view, but that’s typical in the Caribbean and overall this gets very positive reviews.

4 – Park Royal Cozumel – Cozumel, Mexico

  • January rate: US$160/night
  • October rate: US$173/night
  • Stars: 3.5
  • # of rooms: 348
  • TripAdvisor rating: 4.0

The Park Royal Cozumel only seems to offer its discounted rates to those who book at least a month or two in advance, so don’t drag your feet on this one. It has 3 pools with swim-up bars in addition to a beachfront location, although Cozumel’s downtown isn’t quite within walking distance so it’s better for those looking to relax rather than shop.

5 – Riu Bachata – Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

  • January rate: US$161/night
  • October rate: US$115/night
  • Stars: 3.5
  • # of rooms: 610
  • TripAdvisor rating: 3.5

With over 600 rooms, this is another of the larger resorts on this list, and that size also allows them to offer a wide variety of non-motorized water sports and other activities that are all included in the room price. The food gets mixed reviews, but most guests are very satisfied here overall.

6 – Bellevue Beach Paradise – Cancun, Mexico

  • January rate: US$164/night
  • October rate: US$117/night
  • Stars: 3
  • # of rooms: 168
  • TripAdvisor rating: 3.5

Located in the Hotel Zone in Cancun and only about 20 minutes from the airport, the Bellevue Beach Paradise Resort might be an ideal bargain for shorter trips because it’s so easy to reach via a cheap flight from almost anywhere. It’s more of a family resort that is very kid friendly so it might not be an ideal choice for couples looking for something quiet.

7 – IFA Villas Bávaro Resort & SPA – Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

  • January rate: US$164/night
  • October rate: US$89/night
  • Stars: 3.5
  • # of rooms: 652
  • TripAdvisor rating: 4.0

Most of Punta Cana’s least expensive all-inclusive resorts are quite large, and this 652-room resort is no exception. But again, the large size allows them to offer a staggering number of activity options that are all included in the room price as well. The partial or full sea view rooms are only a bit more than the garden view, which is another plus.

8 – Barceló Puerto Plata – Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

  • January rate: US$165/night
  • October rate: US$101/night
  • Stars: 3.5
  • # of rooms: 585
  • TripAdvisor rating: 3.5

You might not expect a budget all-inclusive resort to be partially surrounded by a Robert Trent Jones-designed 18-hole golf course, but that’s what you get here. This is another that seems to offer the best deals to those who book well in advance, so be warned. Reviews are generally very good considering the room rates, though more than a few do point out that service can be a bit slow.

9 – Be Live Grand Marien – Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

  • January rate: US$172/night
  • October rate: US$176/night
  • Stars: 4
  • # of rooms: 584
  • TripAdvisor rating: 3.5

Another of the larger all-inclusive Dominican resorts with a Kids Club and most popular with families, the Be Live Grand Marien has 24-hour food and drink service as well as nightly shows and an on-site disco. The ocean-view rooms are not quite the bargain that the garden or pool view rooms are, except in low season when everything is shockingly affordable here.

10 – Catalonia Punta Cana – Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

  • January rate: US$180/night
  • October rate: US$102/night
  • Stars: 3.5
  • # of rooms: 711
  • TripAdvisor rating: 4.0

With all review sources combined, this is easily one of the most praised by past guests, so it’s one to consider for sure. The least expensive rooms here are their Junior Suites, which have a partial ocean view, making the value even better. There are two golf courses and a casino as part of this large resort complex as well.

11 – Sea Adventure Resort & Water Park – Cancun, Mexico

  • January rate: US$208/night
  • October rate: US$135/night
  • Stars: 3
  • # of rooms: 160
  • TripAdvisor rating: 3.5

This 160-room Cancun resort is all about families. As its name implies, the room rate also includes admission to its very own water park. The location is somewhat remote, not in the Cancun Hotel Zone, so it’s not a great choice for guests who plan to do a lot of shopping. But as a self-contained resorts for families with younger children, this one is hard to beat.

12 – Royal Decameron Montego Beach – Montego Bay, Jamaica

  • January rate: US$210/night
  • October rate: US$139/night
  • Stars: 3
  • # of rooms: 143
  • TripAdvisor rating: 4.0

With only 143 guest rooms, the Royal Decameron Montego Beach is small enough that the staff get to know most of the guests, which is a major plus for most people. Being only 5 minutes away from Montego Bay Airport, and also along its nightlife center, this resort is perfect for those on shorter trips who like to party as well as relax.

13 – Royal Solaris Cancun Resort, Marina & Spa – Cancun, Mexico

  • January rate: US$224/night
  • October rate: US$179/night
  • Stars: 3.5
  • # of rooms: 300
  • TripAdvisor rating: 4.0

Like many other resorts along Cancun’s Hotel Zone, the Royal Solaris Cancun Resort has the Caribbean on one side and the lagoon on the other, so even the least expensive rooms have water views. The reviews here are consistently solid in spite of the modest prices, which are mainly available for those who book well in advance.

14 – Lifestyle Crown Residence Suites – Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

  • January rate: US$227/night
  • October rate: US$107/night
  • Stars: 3.5
  • # of rooms: 92
  • TripAdvisor rating: 3.5

Quite different from the others on this list, the Lifestyle Crown Residence Suites is indeed an all-suite hotel. It has 59 1-bedroom suites and 33 2-bedroom suites that only cost a bit more, so it’s ideal for groups and families. There are 11 small swimming pools rather than one huge pool, so the whole place has a more private feeling to it.

Where to find the best rates and package deals

We’ve found that official hotel sites usually charge more than the online travel agencies, so you are better off searching on the sites below. Also, some resorts have standard prices all the time while others have sale prices that go on and off, especially if they aren’t very full. It’s better to scan and look for sale rates for your dates to get the best possible price.

Conclusion on how to choose the best cheap resort

If finding the highest quality for the lowest price in an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, it’s clear that the Cancun/Cozumel area and the Dominican Republic are where your money goes furthest. For most people, flights to Cancun will be cheaper and also shorter than the Dominican Republic, which requires a change of planes in the southeast United States for most travelers.

As mentioned above, the online travel agencies typically offer the lowest rates, and they run sales at various resorts at different times (except for the Christmas holiday period), so it’s best to be open minded about resorts until you find out which ones are running sales when you are ready to book.
